San Diego Coastal Bike Ride along the Bird Rock areaSan Diego County's coastline stretches from the Mexican border to Orange County, featuring both expansive sandy beaches and rugged cliffs with breathtaking ocean views.

My wife and I embarked on a four-hour bike ride to explore this stunning coastline, starting our journey in San Diego and aiming for Carlsbad.

We rented electric bikes from Top Jolt Bicycle shop in Point Loma Heights, which boasts a 4.5-star rating on TripAdvisor.

San Diego Coastal Bike Ride near Crystal PierLeaving the streets behind, we ventured into the Ocean Beach Athletic Area and onto the San Diego River Bikeway, eventually circling around Mission Bay and Sail Bay.

We experienced a minor setback with a loose bike seat, but a friendly local quickly assisted us. We continued our ride through Pacific Beach, La Jolla Hermosa, and reached La Jolla Cove, enjoying the scenic coastline.

La Jolla Cove during our bike rideDespite some crowded trails, we enjoyed a picnic lunch halfway to our destination before starting our return trip.

Our electric bikes were a great help, especially on steep climbs, though we worried about battery levels by the end of our journey.
