Plaza Inn
Start your day at Disneyland with a delightful character breakfast buffet at the Plaza Inn, located at the top of Main Street, U.S.A. This buffet-style restaurant offers traditional American fare, pastries, and made-to-order omelets, along with plenty of interaction with Disney characters.
While you enjoy your meal, popular characters like Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, and Minnie Mouse will visit your table to pose for photos and sign autographs. The food, drink choices, and the service are consistently top-notch, making it a memorable morning experience.
Tip: Reservations are essential at this extremely popular character dining spot, and they often book up 60 days in advance. Guests staying at Disneyland Resort hotels may have slightly earlier access to booking windows. Make your reservations here.
Other Breakfast Spots
River Belle Terrace: This location, which offers incredible views of the Rivers of America, is an excellent choice for a more leisurely, à la carte Southern-style late breakfast. It provides a peaceful start to a busy day in the park.
Carnation Café: This charming, nostalgia-filled spot for a classic American breakfast is situated right on Main Street, U.S.A. Known for its warm, historic atmosphere, the café serves delightful morning favorites, including Oscar's Choice (an American breakfast) and various egg dishes.
Tip: The Carnation Café has outdoor seating on Main Street. Timing your breakfast or lunch here to coincide with a parade is an excellent way to secure a fantastic, shaded viewing spot without having to wait long beforehand.
Ship to Shore Marketplace: This quick-service stand in Frontierland offers a delightful, unique breakfast option: the famous breakfast chimichanga, a satisfying, easy-to-eat meal for guests on the go.
Snacks and Treats
Dole Whip, I Presume
The legendary Dole Whip, a pineapple-flavored soft-serve ice cream, is a must-try Disney classic. The main spot to find it is at The Tropical Hideaway, located in Adventureland behind the Enchanted Tiki Room. The Hideaway serves traditional Dole Whip along with several swirls, floats, and other unique, exotic snacks, and provides a large, pleasant outdoor seating area for a break.
Interesting Fact: Dole Whip has a massive cult following among Disney fans. The treat is entirely dairy-free and gluten-free, making it an excellent dessert choice for guests with common dietary restrictions.
Fun Fact: Along with Dole Whip, Disneyland Churros are one of the most iconic and popular snacks, often customized with seasonal flavors. The park sells over 2 million Churros annually!
Main Table Service and Quick Service
Tomorrowland Terrace
This quick-service restaurant is conveniently located at the entrance to Tomorrowland and serves classic fast-food fare, including fried chicken, burgers, and salads.
Tip: Time your quick meal to coincide with the current stage show or entertainment taking place on the terrace, providing live music or a performance while you eat. The shows change seasonally, so check the park's entertainment schedule upon arrival.
Tiana's Palace (Formerly French Market)
Important Update: The French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square permanently closed in 2023 and was replaced by Tiana's Palace. This vibrant, cafeteria-style eatery, inspired by The Princess and the Frog, serves classic New Orleans cuisine, including gumbo, jambalaya, and muffuletta sandwiches. While enjoying your meal, you can still hear the jazz and Dixieland tunes provided by a live band nearby.
Hungry Bear Restaurant
Enjoy a relaxing meal at this riverside haven nestled in Bayou Country. This quick-service spot offers a secluded, tiered outdoor seating area with scenic views of the Rivers of America. You can savor cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, or a healthy salad while watching the ships and rafts float by.
Red Rose Tavern
Located in Fantasyland, this quick-service spot is themed to Beauty and the Beast. You can order typical American fare, such as cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, or a Chef's salad. While the food is acceptable, the highlight is the highly themed atmosphere and the occasional seasonal, themed menu items.
The Golden Horseshoe
This Western-style saloon in Frontierland is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. The quick-service restaurant offers fish and chips, chicken breast nuggets, chili cheese fries, and chili in a bread bowl.
The classic live entertainment show, The Laughing Stock Co., was discontinued in 2022. However, other musical performances sometimes take the stage.
Rancho Del Zocalo
You can have a delicious Mexican meal at Rancho Del Zocalo in Frontierland. This cafeteria-style restaurant offers tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and daily specials. Due to its spacious layout, excellent food quality, and easily accessible mobile ordering, it is a very popular quick-service dining location. You can also ask for a secret menu item, the hidden burrito (also known as the Zocalo).
Upscale and Signature Dining
Blue Bayou
For a truly refined and unique dining experience, head to Blue Bayou, which is located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride itself.
The atmosphere is highly romantic, set in perpetual twilight, and the Cajun-Creole-inspired food is first-rate. On our last visit, we ordered the rack of lamb and the veggie pasta, both of which were perfectly prepared. Other excellent choices include the Surf and Turf and the Filet Mignon. Crucially, the Blue Bayou now serves alcoholic beverages, including specialty cocktails, wine, and beer, which complements the signature dining experience.

River Belle Terrace (Dinner)
This Southern cooking restaurant, located across from the Rivers of America, offers great-tasting meals throughout the day. While their breakfast is excellent, the dinner provides a special ambiance.
Recently, I enjoyed a three-course prix fixe menu for dinner and loved it. Diners can pick a soup or salad for a starter, a main dish from six choices (like the catch of the day or ribs), and a dessert. Both the ribs and fish were delicious.
You can also get a combo dinner package here that includes reserved viewing for the Rivers of America fireworks or water show. The reserved viewing area for the show is close by and offers an excellent perspective of the evening entertainment.
